PRESS RELEASE ‘WHEN WORDS FAIL’
Lara Samira releases new single ‘when words fail’ on October 22
The 21 year old Singer-Songwriter Lara Samira from Berlin will release her new single ‘when words fail’ on October 22 on Dutch Indie label Toukan Records. The song is about anxiety and overcoming your fears by finding comfort in music.
‘when words fail’ was written in 2019 back when Lara’s anxiety and feelings of depression were at their highest. As a result, going outside and talking to new people felt too much to handle for her. While being uncomfortable, she did feel comfortable performing with her ukulele and so music became her safe space to express herself when words fail. This song always reminds her to push through anxiety even when things get scary and to focus on the things that make you feel happy and safe! Lara is pretty convinced she’s not the only one in here.
‘when words fail’ will be part of her very first EP “phosphenes” together with her success single ‘something i can’t fake’ that has over 460.000 streams, German radio airplay and continues to grow.
Do you know that feeling, when you rub your eyes a little too hard and suddenly you see this explosion of colours and patterns? Those are phosphenes. And this is how it should feel when you’re listening to her EP: a light that emerged from the darkness to create a space full of colors without any external influence.
Lara describes her EP as a box and in it is a collection of letters. Every song, 6 in total, contains a personal message that is now ready to be sent out into the world. She plans to release her EP ‘phosphenes’ in autumn this year.
‘when words fail’ is written by Lara Samira herself, Christopher Wortley, Roel Rats and Laura Oakes. Produced by Roulsen.
Lara’s fourth release on Toukan Records is led by producer Roulsen and songwriter Marcia Sondeijker hailing from Utrecht, The Netherlands, known for collaborating with Dutch artists Maan and rapper Sven Alias, Eurovision artists Tamta and Kristin Husøy.
